Iglesia ni Cristo Weddings | Kat and Ralph

It’s a common misconception that the wedding season in the Philippines is around June-July – similar to how they have it in the west where it falls during their summer season. But I guess many now know that it is actually December-January, something driven by culture more than the weather. It coincides to the prolonged Christmas season that we celebrate when everyone from abroad usually come home to spend their holidays. So it is not unusual that we get a lot of inquiries and bookings during this time and a good number of them are people based in another country and wanting to get married back home – call it a coming-home/destination wedding of some sort.

It is also typical that I don’t get to meet my couples until few days before the wedding or sometimes I meet them for the first time on the wedding day itself. It makes the whole busy season even more complicated because our schedule are even stretched thinner and we sort of struggle because we want to be able to spend as much time with each of them. But sometimes things work out naturally as was the case with Kat and Ralph. I can safely say that Kat is one of my brides that’s dearest and closest to me. This despite them being based in California and despite me never having the chance to meet them until several days before the wedding.

Before I met Kat and Ralph, I felt that I’ve known Kat for a long time already. We get to converse often about wedding stuff and how we are all going to prepare and shoot it. She asks a lot of questions but she is super sweet and nice at the same time so I was fond answering them when I can. She has a way with me and I think that is why when I met them on the day of their pre-wedding shoot, it was like meeting old friends again. :) I was very excited to shoot that, their wedding, and we even met again to celebrate Kat’s birthday. Before they left it actually felt sad to think that they’re going back home and it would be a while before I see them again.

In a season filled with so many people to meet and with so many events to take part in, the times I’ve spent with Kat and Ralph was definitely one of the great highlights of them all. This of course includes our times shooting their pre-wedding and actual wedding photos. Enjoy.
