If I weren’t a part of this wedding and I just happened to see the bride, it wouldn’t be far-fetched for me to think that it was Gretchen Barretto getting married. Of course that’s almost impossible given that she is still married and the atmosphere relatively commotion-free. But Stacy is very beautiful that it makes you think otherwise. Being half-Filipino and half-Columbian has its obvious merits and me taking the role of capturing all the beauty of the day also share a good part in those merits.
Of course Joey is not to be left out. I’ve known him from my original photography group and he has a keen eye for beauty and surely knows how to capture them – both figuratively and literally. I must say that he rocked his portraits and looked very collected and spruce throughout, a perfect complement to Stacy’s courageous allure.
One thing I wouldn’t forget is how Stacy put the fear in me. It has never happened where it is not me who says that it is dangerous enough – except in this wedding. I felt that sitting on the edge of the tower of one of the tallest church in the city is dangerous – not quite worth the risk. But Stacy thought otherwise. You know that feeling of free fall? Where you feel that thing between your legs goes up your throat? I felt that the whole time both of them were on that ledge. I still feel it now writing about it.
But you know, it’s true what they say in tagalog – “makakahanap karin ng katapat mo”. I found mine and I’m glad I did. I wouldn’t have thought that those amazing shots are possible until Stacy and Joey showed me the way. So please do enjoy these photographs and may you have the thrilling feeling I still get whenever I look at them.
