Being in a long distance relationship is one of the most difficult challenges a couple can face – it will make you or break you. But what if there is even an underlying complexity in such a set-up, what if the people who are in the relationship are of the same sex? What would have been a hard but one-dimensional problem now becomes a war in multiple fronts. Such a situation is not easy to understand, moreover experience, yet it is happening.

Rica and Ann had been away from each other for many years. And throughout, they were fighting the distance that separates them and they were fighting for the love that keeps them together – an endless barrage of compression and tension. Yet for some reason (let’s call it love) they withstood that and finally got together for good when Rica joined Ann in Sydney a couple of years ago. That was when they said that if any of those didn’t hinder us, why would any institution or law do otherwise? So they came back to their home country and to their favourite destination to plan the most touching of weddings.
