Siargao Wedding Photographer | Joyce Pring and Juancho Trivino

Here is to making ends meet.

We recently had the privilege of not only shooting again in Siargao, but also having no other than Joyce Pring and Juancho Trivino as subjects for their prenup photos. Since we established Metrophoto Siargao last year, this surely is the biggest and the most high-profile shoot as of yet. Speaking of this being a big shoot, it goes without saying that we planned for this early on. Regular readers of the blog know that we are suckers for controlling things as much as we can. Consequently, speaking of high profile as well, there are just things that we cannot control no matter how much we plan, especially in working with such in-demand personalities and celebrities like Joyce and Juancho. Our supposedly easy-paced three-day shoot was compressed to an impossible four and a half-hour window that is bookended by Juancho arriving and leaving the island via the Siargao airport.

It was an insane task but we are not wedding photographers, more so Metrophoto for nothing. If any, we embraced that pressure, laid it on the floor and embraced it again. So we went through the shoot plan once again and picked what we feel are the best and most efficient we can do, with the given time. Out of the list are any shoots that will require a boat ride or far-flung attractions in places like Pacifico and Magpupungko. Given the anticipated mad rush, we chose Cloud 9, the coconut road, and the Maasin River as the Siargao spots we would shoot for Joyce and Juancho’s prenup. And if there was one shot that we will have to make, it would be the one where they will be on top of the iconic bent coconut tree of Maasin river. We’ve envisioned this shot as THE SHOT of Siargao and we know that given the perfect combination of planning, coordination, willingness of subjects, weather, crowd, and shot execution, it is possible.

At exactly 9:16 in the morning, the van that picked-up Juancho from the airport arrived at the site. We were there for 30 minutes already finding the best ways (or checking if it’s even possible – it was) to get on top of the tree. We took several warm-up shots all while explaining to Joyce and Juancho what awaits them. Just several minutes later, Joyce was already crawling up on the tree trunk in a beautiful red gown no less. It was an exhilarating turn of events, a lot of “should I look or should I not look” moments. A few more held breathes and cheers, Joyce and Juancho are finally on top and are both ready for one of the most amazing photos of Siargao.

We didn’t have to wait for so long for the clouds to cover the sun, to make the shot exactly as how we envisioned. After this morale-boosting moment, it was all easy-peasy for us. We completed all the locations we planned for and even squeezed in a mini shoot for Kaza, our hotel hosts for the trip. I’m sure that all of these that I said would be more enjoyable once you see the photos below and are able to watch the attached behind-the-scenes video as well.

Special thanks again to Kaza Siargao, to Janis of Siargao Weddings, to Cathy of Event Embassy, to Donne, to Rona, to Bea, to Mark and of course to Joyce and Juancho for making ends meet. It’s not every day a Siargao prenup shoot ends up to something like this. Enjoy!
