Each wedding is different in their own little ways, but there is always the challenge to make these differences stand-out given the repetitive nature of the whole process. This dilemma is greatly exaggerated by weddings in Manila where the choice of impeccable venues and churches are limited. But we try really hard and we love taking on the task. Today’s wonderful post has nothing to do with everything I just said, in fact it is the total opposite.

We’re happy to bring you today the photos from the wedding of Blake and Jen from Koh Samui in Thailand. While it seems like a really exotic place, it is not the first time the Metrophoto has covered a destination wedding in Koh Samui. Some of you might remember Kenny and Nikko’s wedding from a year back with that huge elephant as their bridal ride. It is because of that post and the wonders of google that Blake and Jen found me. And while we didn’t have an elephant in their wedding, it’s as every bit lovely.

I don’t get as many foreign clients (Blake and Jen are from Melbourne, Australia) and naturally there is a bit of anxiety before the very first meet-up. But I guess weddings, wherever and whatever culture it is from, speak of the same engaging, amiable, and joyful language that it felt like we were good friends right from the get-go. It doesn’t hurt as well that Blake and Jen are very nice people and they laugh at some of my jokes. hahaha.

So enjoy these photos and relive the wedding of Blake and Jen in Sareeraya Resort in Koh Samui Thailand.

If you’ve seen Kenny and Nikko’s E-session photos from my last post, you are probably one of those that are keen on seeing the photos from their wedding in Koh Samui, yes, that one with the amazing elephant! how can you go wrong with an elephant as the bridal car (or for this instance bridal transportation – I was going to say bridal animal but it sounded a bit weird)? well, you don’t.

The photos from this intensely warm and amazingly gorgeous wedding in Thailand are finally here. I can’t be prouder to be Kenny and Nikko’s photographer of choice for their once-in-a-lifetime moment considering also that Kenny is a design guru and know a whole lot about these things that we do.

Kenny and Nikko’s story is heartwarming. They call each other “bear” and you’ll see this theme throughout the wedding. I’m sure you’ll be delighted to see their video love story here, made by Kenny’s own video outfit Rainbowfish.

I know you’d just skip whatever it is that I will write further because the photos are more enticing so I’ll just put my captions on the photos so that I can go along as you scroll down. Enjoy =)

The wedding was set in the charming and intricate Mercure Hotel along Maenam Beach in Koh Samui.

Here is our beautiful bride Nikko getting dolled-up by dolled-up men that you could mistake for real women =)

Nikko’s intricate traditional Thai gown that she wore after the beach ceremony.

The place was surrounded by lush gardens.

I wish I can have abs that’s close to Kenny’s hahaha.

Brotherly love. Tim fixes kenny.
Nikko’s Surprise

Metrophoto Men!

Kenny’s surprise =)

First look. We had Kenny walk to Nikko and surprise her with their cute Panda Bear stuffed hats.
It was a lovely treat to Nikko =)

And guess why everyone was stoked when they saw the couple arrive….
… because they arrived in style… in HUGE style.

The setting was amazing!

I had the stupid idea to get a kayak and shoot the ceremony scene from beyond the beach… ha! it’s a perspective unlike any other though.

after the ceremony they fed Apple – that’s the name of our cute elephant.
and then she was kind enough to let Kenny and Nikko have a shoot with her.

Quickly, the couple changed to their superfab traditional Thai outfits and had a traditional water ceremony.

we made sure we Metrofy Thailand! =) hahaha

While I like to consider myself really good in geography there are quite a few times that I totally think that it’s a false personal perception. hahaha. Like when I had no idea where Koh Samui was when Kenny and Nikko booked me for their wedding… hahaha but wherever that was, I thought that if it is somewhere I never heard of before, it’s should be nice.

Nice is a bit of an understatement. Samui is awesome in itself but when you are there to capture the wedding of one of the sweetest couples ever, you actually stop to take a deep breath and thank Him for such a blessing. =)

Day 2 of our stay in Samui is the e-session shoot of Kenny and Nikko. All of us were not really familiar with the island so we agreed before that we’ll take a guided tour and shoot whatever we see from there. Midway through it, we realized that we needed something more out of the ordinary but still very Thailand AND still somehow connected to Kenny and Nikko. Then I remembered these old but colorful Thai fishing boats while researching about Samui and we agreed to look for where they are docked. The idea seemed bizarre to our guide and she kept on discouraging us – which actually just made more want to see it. hahaha.

Of course in the end, we found them and shot in them. It was honestly more than the colors and textures that we got (there were the smell and the stares too) but it was completely rad! Something I think no one has done before and something I think that no one is crazy enough to do. hahaha.

Enjoy the photos and the boat sans the smell – up next is Kenny and Nikko’s Samui wedding =)

Koh Samui is an island off the coast of Thailand. It’s Phuket’s little sister and that place you saw in Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie, The Beach. Unlike Vegas, what happens in Samui, shouldn’t stay in Samui. So make sure you visit back to see the complete coverage of this incredibly wonderful wedding of Kenny and Nikko.
