It has been more than 2 years already since the first time I visited Bali. It was for a wedding shoot, and while we didn’t have the time to go around, i loved how distinct their culture is. There had been a couple more visits after that but all of them, like the first one, were the typical arrive-shoot-shoot-leave scenario that made exploring the island an improbability.
This very recent trip we had wasn’t much different; arrive-shoot-shoot-leave. Although this time, I had a much better grasp of what the island was all about – either because I’ve been there for quite a few times already, or because I had more time to research ahead before we got there, or because the spots we shot at this time were really diverse, or because I have 3G connection throughout and made using the map while traveling get your bearings correct, or perhaps it’s just all of these.
One thing is for sure, that despite the many destinations and weddings I’ve been at, the wedding of Charlene and Todd in Ayana Resort is surely one of the most splendid and intricate.
I have never seen a villa as beautiful and as large as the one Charlene had for her bridal preparations. It has its own cliff and it is in its own cove. It is a freaking resort on its own.
Throughout the wedding, I was greeted with one pleasant detail after another and with them are people all nice and warm (both the locals and anyone that attended the wedding) that you think you’re home. I am fond of listening to speeches especially done in destination weddings like these because they are more personal and more elaborate and the speeches in this wedding were just well-prepared and even better delivered.
It’s also worth mentioning that our Groom Todd Dipaola is the co-founder of inMarket whose platform, including apps such as CheckPoints, List Bliss, and Extra Extra, reach an estimated 20 million consumers. It’s a pretty big deal and you’ll know what I mean when you google his name :)
So while still, there wasn’t the time to explore around Bali in this trip, being able to stay a few nights and shoot in one of its largest and best resort as one part of our trip is magnificent enough. All these, on top of shooting the most intimately beautiful wedding i’ve ever been in. Enjoy the photos.
