Pre-nuptial shoots always carry an arresting feeling that a greater milestone is coming. It is a prologue to forever, and indeed, what an amazing prologue it was for Jelyn and Ric as they professed their love in the beauteous place that is Siargao. As one of the premiere local destinations for nature and blue waters, Siargao is also slowly cementing itself as a destination for not only adventure, but romance as well. Surrounded by crystalline waters and embellished with towering trees, it is easy to say that this place is God’s work. What a perfect shooting location for a love story written with God’s love.
The nostalgia of paradise found, before the devastation brought by Odette just few weeks past, took me back to this moment when Siargao was still unscathed by nature’s tempest.
Immersed in the organic contrast of the tastefully curated wardrobe and styling and the raw and undulating charm of Siargao, Jelyn and Ric were able to find their zone and just be in the moment while surrounded by varying shades green and blue. This shoot allowed me to capture emotions and drama where the destination itself seems to perfectly complement both Jelyn and Ric.
It was like nature itself created the perfect backdrop, which made the shoot memorable and truly breathtaking. When we took the time to capture photos in the trail of coconut trees where the shadows and patterns made by the fronds created a glorious ensemble highlighting the couple, it was like nature whispering, “this is our blessing for your union.” This was a truly awe-inspiring moment that I as photographer will always reminisce and that Jelyn and Ric will undoubtedly remember forever.
Storms are part of life. They test us in more ways than one, but they also allow us to rise above the adversities that life throws at us. At the end of each storm passing is the remembrance of our survival, our resilience, our relentless spirit, and our strength and heart. Siargao will always be one of the destinations dear to my heart because of its unparalleled charm, like a home away from home with a truly hospitable vibe and immersive ambiance that promise more memories to create and more photos to capture. It might have been wounded now, but I know by heart that it will shine again soon.
The storm also reminded me of how pandemic hit us, but hey, we’re still here. Days may have gone a bit gray, but we still celebrate new mornings with the aspiration of making things better.
What a wonderful overture this is, and for Jelyn and Ric, this is one of those memories that will always bring them a faithful reminder of the unwavering force of love. After all, there is perhaps no moment that inspires greater hope and joy in the future than being on the threshold of forever.
