Adrienne and Kenneth | Shangri-la at The Fort Tinghun

Adrienne and Kenneth, were most alive on this day, knowing that they are one step closer to spending the rest of their lives together. Their overflowing love for one another can be felt in every part of the venue. Hellen Keller did once say, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.” And I agree with her. What are possessions if you do not have love in your life? As you look at Adrienne and Kenneth’s tinghun photos, I hope that you will feel with your heart the love that they have for one another. For there are greater and more important things than material things, and that is love. Evelyn and Neil | A Manila Tinghun Photographer

Before the pandemic, I was shooting a lot of Tinghun ceremonies, and it’s been a while since I’ve shot one that is this big. The guests and venue were like the old normal, but of course still making sure that everyone, from suppliers to the guests, was safe! I missed this festive mood that used to be a normal thing of the past. I was so used to big and extravagant celebrations in the past, but since the pandemic, I have come to appreciate these little things of how we can have fun, celebrate, create beautiful photographs and continuously be cautious of our safety. As we continue living in an extension of this GCQ, may we all take good care of ourselves so we can look forward to a future that we can consider as the better normal. Kudos to Evelyn and Neil for a successful celebration of tradition that was ELEVATED. SAFE. BEAUTIFUL. #onlymetrophoto __________________ Suppliers: Photo: Paolo Nierves Makeup: Rosa Patrick Coordination: Tinghun Tris Gown: Jo Rubio Ceremony Table: Imajic Touch Cake: Mannix Peña Host: Fashion Pulis [shareprints gallery_id=”88454″ gallery_type=”masonry” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_100″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”5″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”zoomin” lightbox_type=”slide” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]

Jelyn and Ric | Shangri-La at the Fort Tinghun

After more than a year of biding our time indoors away from the usual luxuries that life has to offer, a lot of us are in the mood to go big before going back home again. This is exactly what Jelyn and Ric made sure to do when their TInghun compensated for the limits that the pandemic has brought upon us. To those who have not been to a Tinghun: it is more or less the Chinese version of our traditional Filipino Pamamanhikan; and for most Filipino-Chinese couples, the Tinghun is just as important to celebrate as the wedding itself. The grandeur of Jelyn and Ric’s Tinghun was an event that I was more than delighted to witness and shoot. Amidst the glitz and the glamour that came along with this splendid celebration, it was the solemnity in which the couple followed through with Tinghun rituals that I found especially heartwarming. Each tradition was conscientiously performed and signified the sacredness that the longstanding tradition of Tinghun personally holds for both the couple and their families. Jelyn and Ric’s Tinghun offers a captivating first glimpse into what their life as a beautiful married couple will be like: steeped in charming tradition and surrounded by the unconditional support of their families and friends. More importantly, this Tinghun represents the intentional cultivation of light and positive energy around Jelyn and Ric as they set out to raise a family of their own and eventually pass these sacred rituals down to – all in […]

Robyn and Aaron | A Manila Tinghun

I only shoot a handful of Tinghuns or Chinese Engagements every year; when I do, it’s always something special. It’s special because of the different challenges it brings, the novelty of the undertaking, and always the people involved. When I get to shoot a couple more than the prenup and the wedding, you can just imagine the added bond it brings. Today’s feature couple doesn’t need that extra bonding time with me. As I’ve said in my previous post about them, these two are my persons also – we’ve bonded more than enough even before they got engaged, and we have done so over wine and more wines. By the time they got engaged, we had only more reasons to get together and celebrate. For those very reasons, I’m excited to share photos that are unusual (because they are not prenup or wedding photos) but, at the same time, still very much Metrophoto – photos of distinction, of elegance, of having that personal touch and relationship from the photographers, and pictures that tell a story beautifully. I’m proud it’s Robyn and Aaron this time around.[shareprints gallery_id=”99819″ gallery_type=”masonry” gallery_position=”pos_center” gallery_width=”width_100″ image_size=”medium” image_padding=”5″ theme=”dark” image_hover=”zoomin” lightbox_type=”slide” comments=”true” sharing=”true”]
