As I was going through all the photographs in preparation for this official post of the much-awaited and certainly not-without-controversy wedding of Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna, there is this one essence that is manifested in every aspect of the celebration – sincerity. In this day and age where it is easy to just ‘research’ something – reckless judgment and false exaggeration are very customary. This is the reason it is a luxury to see genuineness in a wedding that surely was an easy target of rumor-mongering and black propaganda.
Truly this union of Vic and Pauline is unusual for obvious reasons. I actually remember in one of our meetings where Vic joked about not wanting to use Ed Sheran’s Thinking Out Loud song for their first dance because part of the lyrics of the song says “And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70’ and of course Vic is much closer to that age than Pauleen – albeit he looks decades younger in person. But despite what people say, if you get to see them up close, there is nothing more sincere than their love and fondness of each other. That when love is real, you not only see it but you also enjoy it for them. Vic and Pauline are the nicest and most real people I’ve met and that is really saying something because of their stature.
Surrounding them are also people carrying smiles of unfeigned delight. From their family and friends who immersed in the celebration and to the hoards of people – many of them grew-up watching the earnest comedy that Vic has been known for – in utter jubilation while witnessing the wedding, there is an air of amazed disbelief that it was actually happening. That Vic Sotto and Pauline Luna getting married is very real and it is unfolding right in front of their eyes. It was such a sight to behold.
As the official photographer of the wedding, I could only be touched with what I was observing. They were emotions in their rawest form and moments in their full glory. It would be a disservice to this art and to every individual who was a part of it if the photographs will be presented in way where they will be enhanced by a song or be disguised by video clips. Photographs that freezes a slice of life and photographs that are heartfelt must and will be enjoyed in one’s own pace, as pure as the moments they have captured. This is also why, we are presenting this wedding three separate parts. We want you guys to take in every frame in your own time – if Vic Sotto took his time in marrying the woman of his dreams, there is no reason for any of us to hurry.
Below are the photographs from the initial part of the day when separately Pauleen and Vic prepare for their wedding to each other (The first of three parts of this feature). It was an amazing experience to be a part of and we are proud to take you with us closest to where the actions were – where it is the most real and most heartfelt. We have nothing but gratitude and humility to this opportunity that was given to us.
