Maureen and Mark | Salar de Uyuni Bolivia Pre-Wedding

We continue with our series on South America with the second post of this 4-part feature of Maureen and Mark’s pre-wedding.

This post will bring us to the plateau of Bolivia and in the biggest salt desert in the world, Salar de Uyuni. This is the farthest and the most remote place I have been to and this is my dream destination. Salar de Uyuni is known for its otherworldly landscape that features everything – snow, lakes, canyons, etc. but the highlight of the highlights is the vast salt flat that exists nowhere else on Earth. This salt flat turns into a giant reflective floor during the rainy season and the sight will blow anyone’s mind off.

The time we are there was just at the tailend of winter, so it was dry and, as we sadly found out, it was extremely cold. We booked a 3-day private tour that will take us around the endless Salar to shoot Maureen and Mark. We were in high spirits, albeit a bit drained coming from a grueling adventure in Peru. What we would realize is that this energy will quickly be sapped by the unforgiving climate.

We customized the typical day one itinerary to focus only on the most interesting spots to shoot. We ended-up going only at the train cemetery and the salar itself because the place is so vast we just cannot cover even our shortlist and the altitude continued to take its toll on us.

But in a place as amazing as this and a couple as amazing as Maureen and Mark, we didn’t need to spend so much time shooting. Salar de Uyuni made as see that she can let her allure do the job. Hope you see it too in the photos below, and in the behind-the-scenes video we prepared.
