A La La Land Inspired Pre-wedding Shoot | Meryll and Rowell

When you cannot go to LA to shoot your La La Land – inspired prenup shoot, you make do with what you have being stuck in Manila. This place, after all, has the influences of that Los Angeles vibe and probably even more.

It’s seldom that my clients have a specific answer when I ask them what kind of shoot they would like to have. I’m always ready to swoop in with my witty suggestions that will get them all excited. So when Meryll answered, with no haste, that she wanted to do a shoot that’s inspired by La La Land (the movie), I was the one that got hustled into excitement. It was a great idea, something that doesn’t require much preparation to pull off and yet visually impactful.

We had many ideas for possible locations around Manila but with Covid restrictions still employed, we had to change a couple of them and improvise. We used a ballroom instead of a bar, and for the finale, we used the famous Jones Bridge doubling as the Pasadena Bridge in California. They aren’t as perfect, but we accepted the limitations, and I kept reminding

myself that we’re not making a movie – they are more than enough for an ‘elevated’ prenup shoot. But I appreciate Meryll and Rowel for putting up with all my ideas and requests – they made sure that we had a heck of a shoot.

There are many more exciting bits and pieces to this ‘Manila – La – Land’ feature, and I’m sure you’ll all enjoy knowing about it when you watch the behind-the-scenes video that we put below. Happy New Year!
