I remember Dakak from the daily advertising of the place when I was a kid. You just know that it’s a lovely resort that’s too far away, you probably won’t get to see it. I have associated it with afternoon naps, the blistering heat of the midday sun, and, of course, Eat Bulaga. I never imagined that a few decades later, I would be in this place shooting one of the most beautiful weddings in my career as a photographer.

The wedding of Steffi and Karl ushered in 2023 for Metrophoto, and it has been the biggest so far for the company. Looking back at it now, this event, full of energy, full of beautiful and life-defining moments, was a sign of the great things to come. To say that Steffi is a gorgeous bride doesn’t even begin to give her justice – she is compassionate and immensely pleasant. She and Karl gave their wedding a vibe of ease and earnestness that then gave a sense of belonging to everyone present. Something that lingers up until now, long after the day is over, and something very much manifested in the photos we showcase today.

Thus from the odd childhood associations of this place, I have come to remember this piece of paradise as what Steffi and Karl made us see, made us feel, and made us photograph – a full day in a world beautiful, embracing, and so theirs, you can’t help but love life every time you daydream about it.
