Marriage is a beautiful event that can bring everyone together. Along with a lasting union, it brings peace and love not only to the lives of the couple but also to the people around them. Most of all, it brings hope. And that’s what Kerry and Ralph’s intimate wedding brought, hope. A day everyone has been waiting for. Every preparation and every moment led to this; the day Karen and Ian become one before the Lord. Every corner of the venue had a burst of resounding laughter and congratulations from friends and family as they celebrate their union. In every click and every photo I took of them, their love, passion and clear determination to face tomorrow with each other were obvious. I remember what Nicholas Sparks said in his book, The Notebook. He said, “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be hard; we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, every day. You and me… everyday.” Every wedding that I attend and shoot is momentous and memorable for me. It goes beyond the invitation, what colors to use, what food to serve or what gown to wear. It is a holy union that no one should separate. It is about spending every hour and every waking moment with your spouse and living with unending grace, love, forgiveness, and understanding. I once mentioned that Kiara and her family hold a special place in my heart. After shooting her sibling’s weddings in the past and her Tinghun a few months ago, it is a privilege and a pleasure to shoot her wedding. We were all excited that despite the gloomy weather, everyone was in a celebratory mood. Everyone was congratulating Kiara and Aldrin, laughing with one another and enjoying each other’s company. Deep within my heart, I hoped for a beautiful and bright future of these two. I’ve always loved weddings, but most especially weddings that are close and dear to my heart.
