Steph and Errtee | Dumaguete Pre-wedding

We have always dreamt big in our shoots and most of the time, we are fortunate to execute and realize them. There are, however, times when we have to scrap an idea altogether and find another way to best ourselves. Case in point is Steph and Errtee’s pre-wedding shoot in Dumaguete. We primarily went to this part of the Philippines to shoot with the famed sea turtles of Apo Island. And while we were able to see and try to shoot the couple with the turtles, we just ran out of time to execute them properly. This plus an unexpected downpour in Lake Balisasaw threw us off course but it only motivated us more. I have to give it to Steph and Errtee, because all the things we did were not easy. It was their willpower (and looks) that overcame all the adversities we faced and allowed us recover, better than we hoped. Sometimes, things don’t go our way. But it is on how we react to it by worrying only about the things we can control that will determine a winning situation from a losing one. For this particular one, we chose the former. Enjoy the photos and make sure you watch our behind-the-scenes video. Special thanks to Terence Buenaventura for Steph’s make-up.

The Wedding of Ehra Madrigal and Tom Yeung

Almost 10 years shooting weddings and one would think I’ve seen it all. Yet today’s feature of the wedding of Ehra and Tom still marks several firsts for me. This is the first time I’ve seen The Lind Hotel in Boracay, much morw shoot in it. I guess it was easily missable because its beach front is only a few paddleboards wide but the place makes up for it by having the most amazing views of boracay from its rooms and pool. It was the perfect place to celebrate the love of Ehra and Tom, something you do see outside, but an affection that is even more incredible inside. This is also the first time I’ve actually fully attended a wedding after-party. Our schedules almost never allows us to and we (more me) really are not the partying type. But Ehra and Tom had become really good friends of mine and it wasn’t that easy to say no, despite my lifetime experience doing it. Being there I realized even more how awesome of a couple and of a friend they are. Their crowd is fun, open, and sure knows how to have a great time – especially with new Japanese friends around. Lastly, I have never shot a wedding while at the same time, had the perspectives of most the guests available (actually push notified) to me via a messaging app. It was fascinatingly cool to see real time accounts and photos via whatsapp while we also cover the celebration […]

Diane and Marvin | A Japan Pre-Wedding Feature

I have discussed a lot of potential locations with Diane and Marvin for their pre-wedding shoot – from New Zealand, to Norway, to Bataan and Siargao, – before we decided that it would be in Tokyo. It is not the most unique of places (not anymore) but Japan is still one of the most inspiring countries in the world and what was important was that it was Diane and Marvin and that it was Metrophoto shooting them. We went to some new locations in Tokyo like NS building and Skytree tower where we got lucky in the latter where they allowed us to shoot a bit, but was shooed away at the former. We also went to the usual locations in like the Shibuya crossing and Kawaguchi Lake. We failed to see failed to see Mt. Fuji and tried to make do with what we had and then got the surprise of our lives when we saw Japan’s famous crossing literally deserted. I’m sure you’ll enjoy all these adventures more when you watch our behind-the-scene video attached in this post. Huge thanks to Diane and Marvin for such a wonderful experience. I’m so blessed to be able to shoot such amazing couples especially brides as gorgeous as Diane. Special thanks also to Nicole Pastrano for doing Diane’s make-up and AJ Alberto for styling the shoot.

Shirley and Kevin | South Africa Pre-Wedding (Part 2 of 2)

Last year, for the first time, we were able to visit and shoot in the continent of Africa. It was a celebrated moment as it really felt the we have broken a barrier and have achieve one of the firsts. The first one was Morocco (see it here) and the next was Ethiopia (see it here). Two very exotic and yet distinct culture and landscapes. The Moor’s influence in Morocco is very evident in its people and architecture and it also has the Sahara desert while the mountains, tribes and stone churches of Ethiopia make it a unique location as well. They say that third time’s a charm and I have to agree that it surely was. On this trip we went to South Africa and shot in the continent’s famed safari. It was a different take on Africa compared to the first two we had and we have the photos to show for it. Dramatic landcapes, captivating creatures, and the most beautiful subjects. The way I see Africa has been changed yet again and I hope that it affects you in the same way as well. Enjoy the second part and final part of this one-of-a-kind South Africa pre-wedding.

Kaye and Janus | Pililla Windmill Farm Pre-wedding Shoot

The smell of the green grass, the touch of sunlight, and the sight of blue skies greeted us as we got underway for Kaye and Janus’ pre-wedding shoot. But most of all, it was the imposing view of the Pillila windmills that got us all exciting. Not more than just a couple of hours away from Manila, there stood such giants that made an already beautiful landscape, an even more exceptional one. It was somewhat hard to imagine how I was going to make Janus pose in front of the camera, considering that I’ve known him for quite some time. But when he arrived with his fiancé, Kaye, they were ready to slay it. Every pose was like a graceful dance. It was like watching them move to the rhythm of their heartbeat. I could feel their connection in every shot. Little instructions were needed, just more clicks of the camera. Having that vintage combi van was also a nice touch to how chill and beautiful these two and their shoot were. But it doesn’t stop there. Kaye, in particular, was full of charming energy that despite having no stylist at the last minute, she was able to improvise by choosing and doing the pullout the clothes herself. Janus, meanwhile, got the drinks and van ready. Regardless of that small hiccup and the last-minute change in venue, we finished in quite a speed and with beautiful photos to show for it. Janus and Kaye decided to make the most out […]

Tanya and Vhong | A Kyoto Japan Wedding Special

It’s a special day today. It’s my wife and I’s 15th anniversary, it’s a Friday, and really, it’s just special for any good reason we can think of. But let us also say that it’s special because it’s the day we finally release the full feature of the official and the exclusive photos of Tanya and Vhong Navarro’s wedding in Kyoto Japan last weekend. We have released a slideshow early this week, but today’s post includes more than twice the number of photos. And let’s be honest, there is no better way of appreciating photographs other than at one’s own pace and without any music accompanying them. This wedding was kept under wraps for a few good reasons and, I must say, that it was both thrilling and excruciating to experience that. Imagine, in our initial discussions with Rita Neri’s group (which by the way, did an impeccable job in Kyoto), we don’t even utter Vhong’s name, just clues. And during our prenup shoot in Vietnam, we try to pretend we don’t know Vhong and Tanya when Filipinos are around because some might figure out that photographers plus them equals prenup shoot and prenup shoot, well, equals wedding. Haha. But last week, the big surprise was finally shared with everyone. A day before the wedding, Tanya and Vhong decided to give everyone a ‘clue’ by posting a teaser of their photos from Vietnam. And then the day after, the most beautiful I’ve seen in Japan, Tanya and Vhong officially got […]

Sei and Paolo | Havana, Cuba Pre-wedding Photographer

To travel is one of life’s greatest pleasures. To time travel, on the other hand, is one of mankind’s greatest dream. I am no Marty McFly but what if I told you that I was able to do both and have the photos to show for it? Several months ago, we visited one of the most enigmatically unique places in the world to shoot the engagement session of Sei and Paolo. Here in Havana, Cuba, you are transported to a different place and to a different time. Because of the extensive reach of the embargo that the United States has slapped on Cuba in the 60s, the country has been virtually stuck in time since. Cars, people, structures and ways of life have not changed much. It’s a dream location for any shoot. It takes something special to shoot in such a place and aptly, I have one of the most special ones in Sei and Paolo. These two are family to me and Paolo is a significant part of what Metrophoto is today. Traveling back in time and having these photos with them is surely a history we would love to back to, time and time again. Enjoy.

Rhett and Clark | An Intimate Manila Wedding Photographer

This was the first time that I was back in Sanctuario de San Antonio since my wedding last March 2020, so it was quite an experience that I was looking forward to. Rhett and Clark aren’t new to me as I’ve shot their civil wedding a month before their church wedding. That just shows how in love Clark is with Rhett! HAHA! I loved everything about the wedding of these two. They both prepared in their houses, which made the feel of their wedding more personal. The glowing and bubbly bride Rhett made shooting quite a breeze for me and the team of Project Mayo 7. I’ve shot so many beautiful brides but rarely do I encounter the type like Rhett, the unassumingly beautiful bride. She doesn’t know it but I have proof, you’ll see them in a while. Enjoy! _________________________ Suppliers: Photo: Paolo Nierves Video: Project Mayo 7 Make-up: Albert Kurniawan Hair: Jerry Javier Gown: Frankie De Leon Coordination: Events Embassy Host: Carolyn Bata Band: 3rd Avenue

Clariz and Anjo | Zamboanga Wedding Photographer

I’ve been shooting weddings for fifteen years now. And while we have achieved (and lost) many things, some accomplishments are right there at the top in making us happy and feel so much like a winner.  One of the best ones is when we get to shoot the weddings of all siblings in the family. The loyalty and contentment it symbolizes are incomparable. While this has happened quite a few times already, today’s feature is the first time that all the weddings in the family happened in the same city outside of Metro Manila.  We traveled to Zamboanga again a few months back to shoot a wedding from the Devero Family; this time, it was the wedding of Clariz with Anjo.  It was only a little over a year when we were there to cover the wedding of Cyra, Clariz’s elder sister. While Cyra and Clariz are the only two siblings, shooting their weddings is really one for our books. Their preference for us smites us, and we love them back to bits. You see, weddings like this only get better as we get to shoot more from the same family. We become closer to everyone, and eventually, it’s like attending a reunion – a reunion that you are so excited to be a part of and to work on.  I wish that Cyra and Clariz had another sibling because I don’t think I can wait for their kids to get married. But in all seriousness, things like these are […]
