The Cebu Wedding of Marian and Mik

2018 finished early for me in terms of shooting. I had planned a month-long vacation with the family that would have us spend the holidays abroad for the first time. Today’s feature of the wedding of Marian and Mik was my last wedding of 2018, and ‘saving the best for last’ would not have become popular if it was not true. I flew to one of my most favorite places to shoot these two wonderful people and also meet their equally lovely families and friends – quite a few I actually know. I love shooting in Pedro Calungsod chapel (aside from the fact that it’s nice and bright, SM seaside is also just behind it, and that means we get buy milktea refreshments while working) and as a bonus, their reception was held in a beautiful house that overlooked the entire city of Cebu. Thanks to Marian and Mik for allowing us to shoot your beautiful wedding and in allowing to have me to have one of the most beautiful send-offs. Enjoy the photos.

A Manila Cathedral Wedding | Natalie and Winston

Red, an emotionally intense color that can mean different things. It can mean strength, power and determination. But it can also mean passion, desire and love. In the Chinese culture, red is a national color that represents beauty, happiness and vitality. And red is all that I saw in Nathaline and Winston during their wonderful wedding. These two were filled with happiness, overflowing with beauty and burning with passion. It is quite noticeable how much these two loved each other. And on this special day, Nathalie and Winston said “yes” to each other in the presence of God, family and friends and we are so fortunate to witness and document it. Enjoy the beautiful and passionate pictures of these two. _________________________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz Make-up: Albert Kurniawan Grooming: The Spoiled Groom Coordination: Jenny Lim Flowers and Styling: Nikki Chatto Video: Notion in Motion | Rupert Nicolas Reception: East Ocean Palac

Jj and Franz | An East Ocean Palace Wedding

I love Jj and Franz. From the first time I met them at the office up to their pre-wedding shoot (see it here), everything was nice and easy and yet intensely pretty as well. For their wedding, nothing less was expected. And we need to say anything because today, you will not have to take our words for it. Today we feature the beautiful photos of Jj and Franz’s wedding. We just love how everything has come together from the location and set-up of their rooms in Okada, and their ceremony in Magallanes church, including all the people that took part in the celebration – it was nothing but love and laughter. Enjoy the photos. ___________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz Make-up: Effie Go Inigo Video: Project Mayo 7 Coordination: The Knot Events Wedding Gown: Steph Tan Couture Flowers and Styling: Jacqs Floral Emcee: Eva Marie Poon Reception: East Ocean Ph

Megan Young and Mikael Daez | A Special Subic Wedding Feature

Metrophoto has always been about doing “more.” The right kind of more. The tasteful kind of more. We are lucky to be able to document the most elaborate weddings but, every so often, something different comes along. The right kind of different. The unforgettable kind of different. Megan Young and Mikhael’s Daez wedding – actually, their entire wedding journey – was just that. It was intimate and pared-down, but nonetheless touching and beautiful. It was a true representation of who Megan and Mik are: two people crazy in love that wanted to focus on what’s important and do things their way. Less on the fuss, more on the fun. They didn’t want any trends to influence how they dreamt of their wedding and their photos to be. What mattered most was to celebrate with the people dearest to them. It was a wonderful thing to witness. Even with their prenup shoot that we did in Annecy, France last year (see it here), the couple kept it low-key and hassle-free. It is captivating as it is raw. These photos are seemingly so simple but they draw you in. One can’t help but take a second look. According to their wishes, we shot everything as unobtrusively as we could. I do have to say thank you to Megan and Mik because their wedding allowed us to showcase our brand of creative yet raw storytelling. The results and I hope you agree, are gorgeous! Today, I am happy to finally share the highlights […]

Kirsten and Andrei | Laguna Pre-wedding Photographer

This shoot not only marks our first out-of-town gig since the lockdown began early this year, but it is our first prenup shoot altogether. We expected great things because we were all raring to go, but the weather had other plans. It was a downpour when we arrived at the resort in Laguna, and it never let off. We had to decide to shoot in the rain for the most part and do what we could. And do what we could is what we did. Kirsten and Andre were amazing. They kept their spirits high and went all out with all the ideas I had for them – including one where they had to be partly submerged underwater and get covered by a glass enclosure – this was made more challenging by the continuous rain and that it was dark already. I’m sure you’ll ‘picture’ all these perfectly once you go through the photos below and watch the behind-the-scenes video we prepared for you. It was a tough shoot, but no amount of rain would dampen our resolve. Enjoy! _________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz

Meryll and Rowel | Intimate Wedding Photographer

As ‘back to square one’ as our situation seems to be, I can’t help but feel a little more hopeful this year compared to the lockdown last year. Aside from the fact that vaccines are already on the rollout, I have witnessed how people bounced back to celebrate as the restrictions were gradually lifted towards the end of 2020. With all the uncertainties before, no one knew how weddings will happen or when they will happen. But they did. There were a lot of adjustments at first but everyone played their parts. Because of this, weddings like today’s feature of Meryll and Rowel’s happened as scheduled and in beautiful fashion. It feels good to relive these photos. Not only are they stunning stories of love and perseverance but they are also a symbol of hope and a window to a time of triumph. May this inspire all of us today, keep us motivated, and make us continue to share love around us. ___________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz Makeup: Anthea Bueno Hair: Jay Aquino Grooming: The Spoiled Groom All Gowns and Suits: Boy Kastner Planning: Weddings By Tv Video: Buen Films

Shaira and Arnold | Philippines Pre-wedding Photographer

When Shaira booked me four years ago, her first question to me was, “What is your dream shoot?” Ambitious as I am, I said that one of them was to shoot at Mt. Everest. From that point on, I saw Arnold and Shaira do everything they could to make it happen. Needless to say, we were all thrilled at the prospect of this once-in-a-lifetime experience (and shoot!). The planning was intense. We were going to fly – not hike – to the Everest Base Camp and shoot what could have been one of the most iconic photos of Metrophoto. We were set to travel to Nepal last April 2020 and then the worldwide lockdown hit. We tried several times more to see if we could still move forward, but further complications, mostly brought about by Covid-19, just made it impossible. The world had been turned upside down and everyone was still reeling from the pandemic. It would’ve been understandable to do something easy and simple. But who’s to say we’re ones to settle? We collected ourselves and thought about doing something just as exciting and memorable. I then remembered how I was inspired by another Harry Styles video where he was floating above and around the stunning Scottish landscape. It was another dream shoot that won’t require travel abroad, though it presented its own sets of challenges. I shared the idea with Shaira and Arnold and they were up (pun intended) for the challenge! The Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija […]

Trisha and Shawn | Crazy Rich Asians Elegance

It was truly a pleasure to spend such a romance-laced afternoon shooting this couple’s engagement session. Trisha and Shawn met while at a tech conference in Hawaii – she has a startup app. . They got to know each other there, and the rest was history. Fast-forward to 2022, Trisha and Shawn came to the Philippines for a vacation in Amanpulo and decided to do an impromptu prenup shoot with Metrophoto before flying back home to the US. Since both of them are of Asian heritage, they opted for a touch of old-money Asian glam in their prenup theme (think of a minimalist Crazy Rich Asians elegance). The timeless scenery at Raffles Makati made for a fitting backdrop for the couple – Trisha and Shawn shone like movie stars with an air of effortless chic. Their natural good looks took centerstage of their prenup shoot, and as you can see in the photos, the couple exudes such an uber-cool kind of glamour that can’t be feigned. I will admit, at first I was quite intimidated by this power couple, but as the shoot progressed, I quickly learned just how down-to-earth they both were and how easy it was to get along with them – to the point that it only took us 3 hours to get all the shots that we needed! The Metrophoto team had such a grand time spending an afternoon with the gorgeous Trisha and Shawn, and we’re very much looking forward to shooting their wedding in […]

Steph and Matt | A Wedding in Las Casas

We are all excited for you to see today’s feature of Stephanie and Matt’s wedding. I only met these two on the day of their wedding, but it was easy to appreciate and know them right away. Their wedding was an amalgam of the prettiest Filipino details and traditions – most of which I’ve never seen yet – how about Stephanie proposing to Matt during their wedding?  These plus the chemistry between these two are the reasons also that it was as easy to create wedding images that are more elevated than usual. I hope that you enjoy and appreciate something more beautiful and unique and yet still every bit of a classic today.
