Pre-Wedding

Abby and Patrick | The Manila Peninsula Pre-Wedding Photographer

This shoot had the making of an absolute classic, and when we say classic here at Metrophoto, it’s the classic that one will never forget. A classic that, as it stands the test of time and changing trends, also stays relevant because it was made with such distinction. And behind every elegantly polished prenup shoot, there is a couple who envisioned well, planned well, and ultimately chose well. Suppliers can take on all the praises, but we wouldn’t be there to execute in the first place if we were not picked to do so. Shooting in The Manila Peninsula was absolute merit. If you have already forgotten, the place teems with the most tasteful of interiors – from its elegant lobby to the very maximalist Salon de Ning. It was really about carefully putting all those together to create a narrative that is uniquely that of Abby and Patrick’s. These two are fantastic to work with. They put out their thoughts during the planning and then let me and our teams (including that of Cath Sobrevega) do the rest. And the rest, as they all say, is now history, another Metrophoto lore, and classic in the making. Please, enjoy the photos. Photo: Oly Ruiz Make-up: Cherry Pacheco Styling: Cathleen Sobrevega

The Prenup Photos of Verniece Enciso and Alf Dichaves | Korea Pre-wedding Photographer

I will admit that while we very much love the work that we do, there are some shoots that are more difficult to do than most – sometimes you really have to grind it out to get the good photos. But on the other end of the spectrum, there are shoots that feel like your floating (like how Steph Curry is when he’s in the zone) and everything just seem to fall into place, or in our case, arrange into frame. This is the exact feeling I had throughout the prenup shoot we had with Verniece and Alf in Korea. The weather, the time, the team, the subjects, heck even the birds, and the crowd just seemed to get the note and all worked wonderfully together. We appreciate these even more knowing that we were in for a challenge early on. We expected it to be unbearably cold, we expected to encounter a large crowd at Nami Island, and we were working on a very tight schedule. To be able to get into the groove early on despite these is a testimonial to how great it is to work with Verniece and Alf. They not only know what it takes to get the job done, but they make it so pleasant and fun for everyone.  Thus in the end, the only complaint I have is not having more time to spend with them and the team on this trip. And if you know me and I am not complaining about […]

Mikey and Monique | A Butuan Pre-wedding Special

No one would guess that in Butuan, we will be able to find such immensely interesting and beautiful spots to shoot a pre-wedding. No me, not Monique and Mikey. But we are lucky enough to be friends with fellow photogrpaher Shayla and her husband, Jimbo, who are not only now based in Butuan but are spearheading the eco-tourism efforts there. They showed me what I can expect when I shoot there and i was quickly sold – and so were Mikey and Monique when I passed on the idea to them. Thus late last year we ventured to a place we almost knew nothing about and got the surprise of our lives. From enormous oil barges that looked like the set from the movie Waterworld, to incredible waterfalls, enchanting lakes, and centuries old fishing devices – we were able to shoot concepts that we haven’t done before. Huge kudos goes to Monique and Mikey who not only took the risk to shoot in Butuan but also braved all the hikes and climbs that we did. It was truly an adventure all throughout and we have all the photos to show for it. Our immense thanks go out again to Shayla, Jimbo, Marlon, and John of Watergate Hotel for being such amazing hosts. Enjoy.

Steph and Errtee | Dumaguete Pre-wedding

We have always dreamt big in our shoots and most of the time, we are fortunate to execute and realize them. There are, however, times when we have to scrap an idea altogether and find another way to best ourselves. Case in point is Steph and Errtee’s pre-wedding shoot in Dumaguete. We primarily went to this part of the Philippines to shoot with the famed sea turtles of Apo Island. And while we were able to see and try to shoot the couple with the turtles, we just ran out of time to execute them properly. This plus an unexpected downpour in Lake Balisasaw threw us off course but it only motivated us more. I have to give it to Steph and Errtee, because all the things we did were not easy. It was their willpower (and looks) that overcame all the adversities we faced and allowed us recover, better than we hoped. Sometimes, things don’t go our way. But it is on how we react to it by worrying only about the things we can control that will determine a winning situation from a losing one. For this particular one, we chose the former. Enjoy the photos and make sure you watch our behind-the-scenes video. Special thanks to Terence Buenaventura for Steph’s make-up.

Santorini – Athens Pre-Wedding | Jennifer and Elwyn

Santorini is for sure in everyone’s travel bucket list of places to go to. Its world famous white and blue structures on the island’s cliff sides has been the inspiration of many resorts, hotels and residences all over the world, but actually being in Greece is totally different. It’s really hard to choose locations to shoot at, not because of the lack of, but because of the abundance. I’ve been blessed to be back on this magnificent island in the Aegean Sea, this time for Jennifer and Elwyn’s pre-wedding shoot. The last I was there was during off-peak season and we basically had the island to ourselves. This time around, it was right in the middle of the peak season and the challenge was real in shooting away from the throngs of tourists on the island. But yes, the island is big enough for all of us. Aside from Santorini, we also had a quick shoot in Athens before wrapping-up our Greece pre-wedding shoot. The whole trip was full of fun and adventures for us. Gowns and Suits by Francis Libiran

Shirley and Kevin | South Africa Pre-Wedding (Part 1 of 2)

Every now and then this job allows to experience something new – whether it’s a new concept or a new a product, and these new things also allow us to create even more beautiful and unique photographs. Today’s feature is first half of our two-part series on the pre-wedding shoot of Shirley and Kevin in South Africa, more particularly a pre-wedding in the safari game drives of Kwandwe. It was great experience overall as a team of 15 people (the largest I’ve worked with for a pre-wedding, moreso a pre-wedding in Africa) travelled to the Eastern Cape of continent and we shot with the varying landscapes and terrains and of course with a few of Africa’s wildlife as playmates, or should I say witnesses. It’s a set that exudes all the drama, the beauty and the marvel that is Africa. Enjoy this first part that includes photos of Shirley and Kevin with a giraffe and make sure you also check part two tomorrow, when two amazing cheetahs make an appearance. Enjoy.

Siargao Wedding Photographer | Rianne and David (Part 1 of 2)

Several posts back when we featured the Siargao prenup photos of Joan and Artom, mentioned how Siargao is arguably the most photographed place in the Philippines. When we said this, we meant photos that we see all over social media and online – everyone’s in fact. Little did we know that it would be true for Metrophoto as well. Since late last year, we have shot pre-weddings and weddings here almost as much as we do in any other place outside Metro Manila. It hit us straight in the face and we just love it. Today we are sharing the first part of the Siargao engagement session of Rianne and David. For all those familiar with Siargao, we know that there is always an adventure waiting to happen, and it is no different in this one. Enjoy.

Danica and Jikko | A Whitespace Manila Wedding

No two love story is ever the same. This is the reason, no matter how many weddings tend to look alike – on venues, on supplier line-up, etc, we give them their due distinction by always telling a unique story with the photographs we take. I first met Danica and Jikko in Barcelona more than two years ago when Danica’s sister, Aika, got married there. They were a pretty and young couple then, and so in love with each other. Now, they are prettier and naturally, a bit less young but even more in love. Their story is inspiring, they’ve shared it to me during our meetings and I heard more about it from their vows. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be the one to tell such a love story. Different couples tell different tales and this one is about the love of Danica and Jikko and all the amazing people that love and support them. Allow us to relive their love over and over again, through the photos we share below. __________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz Gown: Mak Tumang Make-up: Albert Kurniawan Coordination: Empire Weddings Videography: Mayad Florist: Dave Sandoval Caterer: Bizu Emcee: Eri Neeman

Siargao Prenup Photographer | Maebel and David (part 1)

I have always been an avid traveler. My work has taken me to different places I had never thought I could go to growing up. But I also believe that no matter how many times I go to these different locations, I will always find something new and fascinating sites to shoot at. With Siargao having a lot to offer, you can go far by visiting the place. You will definitely see so many interesting things on the island. You can walk or drive for a few minutes and your eyes will never fail to meet a mix of unique and amazing spots. The island is so alive that almost every week there are new restaurants to try or new places to hang out. Siargao is one of the most interesting and captivating places to have a photoshoot, whether just for vacation or for a pre-wedding shoot. It is an island that you’ll keep coming back to. I would like to thank David and Maebel for choosing Metrophoto Siargao. And just like my other clients, they pushed me to think outside the box and make the experience something new and one-of-a-kind for them. They made this whole shoot fun and beautiful. Enjoy! ________________ Suppliers: Photo: Oly Ruiz Make-up: Janice thebeautyfairy Styling: Aireen
