Pre-Wedding

Raissa and Walton | An Escolta Pre-wedding

Living in a small world with big possibilities, it is not impossible to cross paths with people we’ve met in the past. This was exactly my experience with Raissa and Walton. Raissa was a block mate of mine in DLSU. But we had no opportunity to develop our friendship then because she was the shy type while I was the complete opposite :). It was, therefore, a pleasant surprise that I got to work with her when she and Walton decided to get Metrophoto for their pre-wedding shoot. Inspired by our history as college blockmates, I decided to do their pre-wedding shoot in the PNR station and in Escolta. Taking photos of this wonderful couple was both fun and easy. Whatever pose I asked them to do, they did so gamely and willingly. Because of this, it didn’t feel like work at all. Shooting Raissa and Walton’s pre-wedding brought back a lot of memories about college. It was great seeing quiet Raissa turning to a full-fledged Metrophoto bride. Aj and JJ | Bahay Lakan Pre-wedding Photographer

It was an afternoon they would never forget. Set in Bahay Lakan, the prenup photoshoot of AJ and JJ took place amid the quiet and seemingly eerie surroundings of the old house in Cubao. As the bride and groom moved and took their places, using the wooden furniture around them, I saw their partnership and cooperation as a couple. They were in tune with one another no matter which space we covered in the house. In the end, the result was that of great pictures showing their lovely personality amid the ghostly hush that seemed to surround us. Capturing their personality with my camera was a pleasure regardless of the environment they were in. In fact, the setting itself allowed the photoshoot to highlight the couple’s undeniable trust and love for each other. So, as you look through the result of the photoshoot, I hope you will see the beauty of the quiet and calm disposition of the couple, conveying the kind of peace only true love brings. Enjoy! _____________ Suppliers: Photo: Kiko Pascua

Doreen and Percy | A University of the Philippines Pre-wedding Shoot

Today’s post is something that’s close to my heart. I still consider my decision to study at UP many years ago to be one of the most life-altering I ever made. And I always say this whenever I get the chance because I’m not sure if I’d have improved myself or have as much confidence to do so if I chose otherwise—growing up in a below-middling household at the margin of Metro Manila before the internet age doesn’t expose one to what’s truly out there. There is nothing to compare to the nostalgia whenever I set foot in UP Diliman. I feel at home, and I feel reinvigorated. And the same goes when I meet, especially shoot, people who also have decussated the same grounds. Because of this, and because I haven’t shot here for years, I was up to creating something a bit more exciting for Doreen and Percy. Many background details about the shoot are covered by the BTS video below (or here), but I do want to emphasize that the goal was to always make the most out of all the people involved, especially Doreen and Percy. We wanted to showcase them and this particular campus where they met and fall in love – in a light that’s different and yet still true. Thank you to Doreen and Percy for allowing themselves to get a little uncomfortable and have a little more fun. These two are fantastic, and I had the best time being back. Please do […]

Felise and Wilson | Freeway Pre-wedding Shoot

They say that life is like a movie, and what’s fascinating is that movies are based on life experiences, so why would we expect anything else but stories that we all can identify with, right? But some movies do take it a little more to the extreme – scenes, stories, and events that are highly unlikely (or even improbable) to happen in real life but make for such an exciting plot or at least clip. Scenes like these surprise us and make the experience at least a little more memorable than usual. And these are the reasons I get inspired by such elaborate set-ups and dream of executing them in my shoots. Imagine how crazy it seems to execute them in a mere pre-wedding shoot if they are imposing to see in movies where resources are plenty. Since the beginning, Metrophoto has been known to push the envelope further and further when it comes to the concepts that we shoot for our clients. We’ve been to the harshest of places and have done unthinkable stuff, and while we are not successful all the time, this constant thrust to do something unique has allowed us to get better and better at knowing what is possible and what is not. Something that has made us masters at getting the most out of a relatively limited resource. Today’s feature is something I’m extremely proud about. I was re-watching the movie La La Land for a similarly themed shoot, and I was refreshed by […]

Raine and JC | Las Casas Pre-wedding Photographer

There is always something evocative about a slow and fully fledged love — a love that has been tested but survived — a love refined by time. For a couple about to celebrate 15 years of marriage, having a pre-wedding photoshoot in one of the most celebrated destinations in the Philippines is a testament to their humble beginnings, their triumphs on their journey, and the beautiful years ahead of them.  Capturing these moments gave me the answer to questions in my mind about resilience and certainty, as crystal clear as the gentle waves that constantly move forward to embrace the shore and as resolute as the beautiful architecture of these historical structures that have stood the test of time. Seeing James and Ariane’s journey is a testament to the unwavering and unrelenting force that is love. And I realized, love is here to stay; you just need to have the courage to hold on to it with every single heartbeat, for a decade and a half, until forever and a day… Photography: Paolo Nierves of Metrophoto Videography: Michelle Centillas of Forevermine Wedding Films HMUA: Say Santayana | Albert Muyo Styling: Styling by Yvonne Camay Wedding Gown: White by Vera Wang

The Pre-wedding Shoot of Ruby and Fred

We bring back the charm of old Intramuros in this lovely feature of the pre-wedding shoot of Ruby and Fred. Both based in the eastern coast of Canada, it was just fitting for Ruby to take Fred to the landmarks of the Philippine’s capital. And by that I don’t mean Megamall or Greenbelt – Metro Manila’s current landmarks, but the historical ones of the colonial Spanish era. The different spots were themed together with Philippine-inspired outfits that Ruby thought of and wore that I must say, all looked wonderful. It’s also worth noting that Ruby is a very good friend of our way back from my wife’s high school years. It is just more heartwarming to shoot someone close to you and to be able to celebrate with them. Special thanks to Terence Buenventura for Ruby’s make-up and Karla Haboc for helping us out. Enjoy the photos.

Kat and Leon | Las Casas de Acuzar Pre-Wedding

I like going to new places for shoots. Whether it’s local or international, I get excited whenever I’m in a new environment. I’ve done shoots before at Las Casas and the Metrophoto team has done quite a few recently. It was my first in a long while and so many new additions have been made at the complex. The challenge here is to shoot in a different perspective and do a unique shoot. I always try to look at places with different sets of eyes to make the most of the location. Whether it’s my first or my nth time, that has always been my approach to keep everything fresh. Maureen and Mark | A Salar de Uyuni Bolivia Pre-wedding (Part 2)

In the previous installation of the series, we shared photos from day one of our shoot in Salar de Uyuni and we highly recommend that you read that wonderful piece. Today, we reveal the second and final day of our shoot in Bolivia. If you think the salar desert and the train cemetery are amazing, I’m sure you’ll love to see the spots we shot on this feature. We only covered two places on this last day because the salar is so vast that it takes hours to go from one spot to another, but throughout it was one jaw-dropping scene after another. We were still having altitude sickness and it was so difficult to prepare and get started for the day. Our first stop was a deserted railway that goes all the way to Chile. These are the tracks that the trains from the train cemetery used during the Spanish occupation, transporting mined silver ores along the salt desert. From the track you can see Volcan Ollague in the background and it was a sight to behold. There were even dear running around the plains. After another 4 hours of driving, we arrived in Laguna Hedionda for a close encounter with the flamingoes. I have to say that this is one of most amazing things I’ve seen in my life. The flamigoes themselves are beautiful already but with such a surreal background, the experience is just in another level. I wasn’t an easy shoot. It was scorching and chilly […]

Verona Italy Wedding of Karen & Antonio

Verona, Italy – the city most known for being the setting of the most popular romantic tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. People all over the world come here to relive their story and be in awe of this gorgeous city. Karen and Antonio’s wedding brought us to this beautiful part of the world where Antonio was born and raised. Karen is a good friend of mine from school and I was thrilled when she said she was getting married, and that the wedding was going to be in Italy. This definitely is one of the most exquisite weddings I was able witness and photograph. More than the charming Villa Zambonina, the lovely food and styling, and the whole of Verona, Italy, what’s most special about this wedding are the people who were present. Special thanks to Elia Fochesato for assisting me during the wedding.
